The Guide section of Photo Guide includes tips and visual examples of a broad range of topics useful to both beginners and more experienced photographers, including digital vs. film, choosing a camera, accessories, taking photos, composition, lighting, advanced techniques, touching up photos, printing photos, sharing photos, and travel photography. These useful tips and examples are great for people just starting with photography, and can also provide a quick reference and reminder for more experienced photographers. The Exposure Calculator provides a valuable resource in the field for photographers of all skill levels that are manually adjusting their cameras for exposure. Using an intuitive interface, you can select the current lighting, ISO speed you are using, and then select either an f/stop or shutter speed. The exposure calculator will calculate and show you the corresponding shutter speed required for the lighting, ISO, and f/stop selected, as well as the corresponding f/stop for the lighting, ISO, and shutter speed selected. This is invaluable for quickly determining the best f/stop or shutter speed to use when shooting under less than ideal lighting conditions. You can change the values and recalculate on the fly, or simply shake your iPhone or iPod Touch to reset the calculator. The Depth of Field Calculator provides another valuable resource for field photographers of all skill levels. Using a similar scrolling interface, you can select your film/sensor size, focal length, f/stop, and distance to the object you are shooting, and the calculator will calculate the hyperfocal distance, the near and far limit of focus, and the total depth of field where objects will be in focus for those selections. This is invaluable for determining the ideal focal distance for your shot, areas of the image that will be in focus, and can be especially useful for landscape photography where focus and sharpness are critical. You can change the values and recalculate on the fly, or simply shake your iPhone or iPod Touch to reset the calculator. The Glossary provides a handy reference of a variety of terms and definitions relating to photography, from Ambient Light to Histogram to Zoom Lens. A scrollable index is provided to make it easy to quickly move through the glossary and select an item to view its definition. This is not only useful for beginner photographers trying to understand what various terms and words mean, but is also valuable for experienced photographers that simply want to double-check something and verify that they understand it correctly. Photo Guide stores all of its content offline, allowing you to keep the guide and calculators at your fingertips when you are out taking pictures, without requiring a connection to the Internet. Photo Guide is a handy and convenient photography reference and tool, for both beginners and experienced photographers on the go.
